3 Reasons To Buy This Film
It's a great, tight little film
There's no shortage of naked cuties
After watching this film, you'll feel well-fed and satisfied.

Review

With the opening frames of this film by Spencer Lee Schilly (Summer Thunder) you might be lulled into thinking that it's yet another gay romance with pretty boy actors. Rest assured this feeling will pass as The Houseboy is filled with sexy surprises and revelations. In his early twenties, Ricky (Nick May) is the third wheel in a relationship with two hotties in their thirties. While Ricky is supposedly out of hearing range, one lover promises the other "a new toy for Christmas" and then they’re out the door for a Christmas vacation. A very hurt Ricky is left to take care of their apartment and menagerie of pets. With a vengeance, Ricky goes on a search for love using internet hookups and guys he meets on the street. Shockingly, he tells several of his “guests” that he's planning to commit suicide on Christmas. The tricks are mostly taken aback and respond uncomfortably with this stranger who has suddenly become quite intimate. Will his "lovers" come home to a nasty surprise, or will Ricky find the love he so needs over the holidays?

Using his own apartment as a set and with a micro-budget, Spencer Lee Schilly has crafted a small gem with The Houseboy. Newcomer Nick May is extraordinarily human in this challenging role. Disarmingly cute, he brings layers and depth to his character. There's sex galore and some very hot guys appear naked. Always surprising, very real and overflowing with emotion and heart, The Houseboy is a must-see gem.

TAN LINES

2006, 97 min
Country: Australia
Studio : TLA Releasing
Cast: Jack Baxter, Daniel O'Leary,Lorena Arancibia, Luisa Hastings Edge, Mary Regan, Christian Willis
Director: Ed Aldridge
Screenwriter: Ed Aldridge

Synopsis

Strip down to your swimsuit and wax your board as surf and skateboard culture receives a queer attitude when a cute surfer boy falls in love with his best friend’s brother.

Review

Midget Hollows (Jack Baxter) is an Australian surfing and partying machine who has to share a bed with his mother in their small apartment. Feeling claustrophobic from such living conditions and small town life, Midget spends his time with his buddies surfing, harassing local townfolk, drinking and smoking a lot of weed. But when the naïve teenager meets Cass, the openly gay brother of his best friend, the duo begin a secret romance that his fellow surfer “dudes” might not approve of. Add in some peculiar activities at the McQuillan mansion, where Midget works part-time, and this could be a summer to remember for everyone involved. Featuring exciting skate/surf action and cast with gay/straight real-life surfers who aren’t shy about shedding their clothes or diving into the steamy sex scenes, Tan Lines is a vastly entertaining gay romance in the world of extreme sports. The leads are gorgeously sexy and you’ll see copious amounts of skin but, besides the “eye candy” factor, the story of Midget’s first romance is so dreamy that you will be applying the sunscreen for some hot summer fun in the sun.

Cal (Wayne Virgo), a sexy 18-year-old gang member, has a life of drugs, online sex hookups, random acts of violence and his big gay secret. As the film begins, Cal hooks up violently with an anonymous stranger that temporarily satisfies his cravings, but fails to quell lust for his best friend, Jonno (Tom Bott). Nessa (Alice Payne), their twisted, foul-mouthed and controlling, gang leader, suspects that there is something going on between them but she can't put her finger on it and tries to split the two buddies apart. Cal is drifting apart from the gang as his gay self emerges. Using horrible violent force, the gang mugs a young cutie Olivier (Marc Laurent). Cal decides to make his break from the gang official by trying to restrain them so that Oliver can escape. Ignoring Nessa's fierce taunts, Cal chases after Olivier and takes him to safety. The two young men together plot a revenge scheme, which then turns quickly to lust and then love. Shank is a very real, edgy and raw British drama played out on the streets of Bristol.

REDWOODS

2009, approx. 82 min
Country:  US
Studio :  TLA Releasing
Director:  David Lewis
Screenwriter:  David Lewis
Composer/Score:  Jack Curtis Dubowsky

Synopsis

Certainly one of the most romantic gay films ever, Redwoods tells the story of a man in a stagnant relationship who meets and falls in love with a writer passing through his small Northern California town.

Review

Shot in the gay Russian River resort town of Guerneville, David Lewis' new film is leagues more polished than Rock Haven and it's got even more soul, if that's possible. Redwoodswill suck you into its warm cinematic womb and won't let go. Everett (Brendan Bradley) and Miles (Tad Coughenour) have a comfortable, non-passionate relationship. Together they are raising Billy, a learning disabled boy, who takes up much of the loving and attention in their home. Miles and Billy go off to visit the grandparents and leave Everett to work in peace. There isn't even a kiss shared between the two men before the departure. Shortly after they leave, Chase (Matthew Montgomery) stops his car at Everett’s house and asks for directions. There is an instant connection between the two men. Later that day Everett visits his B&B and "just happens to bump into" his new friend. And then while antique store hunting with his Mom, the two men run into each other again and the flirtation is official. Despite Everett's reticence and clumsiness, Chase persists and their love blossoms quickly. Matthew Montgomery (Socket, Back Soon and Gone, But Not Forgotten) and cast are superb in their roles. Truly a fine actor, Matthew Montgomery’s talent seems to grow with each of his film roles. With its original score, great scenery and mushy-beyond-belief story, Redwoods is bound to become a gay classic.

PATRIK AGE 1.5

2008, 103 min
A.K.A.: Patrick Age 1.5
Country:  Sweden
Studio :  Here!E1 Entertainment
Director:  Ella Lemhagen
Screenwriter:  Ella Lemhagen
Original Author:  Michael Druker

Synopsis

A gay couple adopts a much different — and older — child than they were expecting in this funny, heartwarming, and unpredictable comic drama.

Review

Swedish suburbanite couple Goran and Sven are going to be daddies! They’ve successfully adopted a Swedish child — Patrik, "age 1.5" — and they eagerly await his arrival. But when the promised bundle of joy finally appears on their doorstep, he turns out to be age 15 and, from the looks of things, a troubled juvenile delinquent. The couple freaks out, demanding the agency take Patrik back, while the oft-rejected, homophobic teen treats the pair like chicken hawk captors. Forced to cohabitate until the adoption agency’s bureaucratic blunder gets corrected, the trio find themselves at constant odds (not to mention the issue of what to tell the neighbors) and confronting unexpected truths. It’s the year of the “gayby boom” film, and Patrik, Age 1.5 truly stands out. Adapting Michael Druker’s play, writer/director Ella Lemhagen brings a stylized, satirical quirk to her vision of suburbia, but injects sometimes stinging dramatic weight into the screwball premise and proceedings. You’ll surely take Patrik to heart. (Swedish with English subtitles)

MULLIGANS

2008, 92 min
Country:  Canada
Studio :  TLA UKWolfe Releasing
Director:  Chip Hale
Screenwriter:  Charlie David

Synopsis

A father’s lust for his son’s best friend is the subject of this witty indie written by and starring Charlie David ("Dante's Cove" and A Four Letter Word).

3 Reasons To Buy This Film

  • Charlie David's on-screen time
  • It's a funny and smart film
  • Charlie David not only stars, he wrote and produced this gem.

Review

Charlie David (“Dante’s Cove”) is taking the controls of his career as the star and writer of this gay update of The Graduate. Tyler (Derek Baynham) brings his college buddy Chase (Charlie David) home for the summer to hang out with his surprisingly hot dad, Nathan (Dan Payne), and mom, Stacey (Thea Gill, “Queer as Folk”). They have the picture-perfect, All-American life going on here in quaint Prospect Lake. The father-son duo golf with regularity, there’s always a family barbeque and the conversation is straight out of “Leave It to Beaver.” While Chase knows he’s gay, he has never come out to his friend, who tries in vain to set him up with girls. But when Chase comes out to his summer family, the cracks in the family dynamic start to show. Nathan looks with a lusty new eye to his son’s best friend, and when he and Chase are left alone for the night, their mutual passion bubbles to the surface, and clothes are quickly shed. The drama hits a peak as Tyler and Stacey return early and discover the shocking secret about this young dad. Can Nathan remain true to himself and keep his family together?
Sparkling dialogue, a fast pace and lots of screen time for the ridiculously gorgeous Charlie David keep this indie compelling throughout.

Review

College senior, Olaf 'Gunn' Gunnunderson (Keith Jordan) is head-over-heels in love with his ultra-gay sweetheart Nathan Stanford (Adamo Ruggierro, out star of “Degrassi: The Next Generation”). The boyfriends part for Christmas break, each returning home to his family. Nathan’s cold parents won a trip to Israel, but somehow “forgot” to tell their son. When he hears that he’s to spend the holidays alone, he decides to make his way to Wisconsin to be with his sweetie and family. When he gets there, there are a few surprises: Gunn is in the closet; Gunn’s mom, Anya (Kelly Keaton) is a major Christmas freak who says “Dontcha” frequently; and Gunn takes after his dad Sven (Derek Long) — anatomically speaking — a fact learned when Gunn’s stoner dad greets Nathan at the door in an open bathrobe. With constant double-entendres flying from Anya’s mouth and Gunn Sr. always stoned, no one seems to notice that Gunn is gay and dating Nathan. With the closet walls closing in on Nathan, he decides to flee back to his empty home — the Gunnunderson’s are a little too fruity even for him! Giddily exuberant, Rob Williams’ latest is not only filled with laugh-out-loud jokes, but also with boys who look oh so cute together. Dontcha think?
